چکیده

Two independent photons, produced through the spontaneous emission of two separate emitters subject to uncorrelated dephasing processes, can display two-photon interference (i.e. coalescence into a two-photon state) when they are incident simultaneously on a beamsplitter, in a manner analogous to that of twin photons produced through degenerate parametric fluorescence. The presence of dephasing processes, however, reduces the interference contrast (i.e. the probability of coalescence), by the ratio of the coherence time to the lifetime of the emitter. Experimental interference of independent photons.

Interference of photons emerging from independent sources is essential for modern quantum-information processing schemes, above all quantum repeaters and linear-optics quantum computers. We report an observation of nonclassical interference of two single photons originating from two independent, separated sources, which were actively synchronized with a rms timing jitter of 260 fs. The resultin...

Spin Correlated Interferometry on Beam Splitters: Preselection of Spin Correlated Photons

A nonclassical feature of the fourth–order interference at a beam splitter, that genuine photon spin singlets are emitted in predetermined directions even when incident photons are unpolarized, has been used in a proposal for an experiment that imposes quantum spin correlation on truly independent photons. In the experiment two photons from two such singlets interfere at a beam splitter, and as...

The Physics of Ghost imaging

One of the most surprising consequences of quantum mechanics is the nonlocal correlation of a multi-particle system observable in joint-detection of distant particle-detectors. Ghost imaging is one of such phenomena. Taking a photograph of an object, traditionally, we need to face a camera to the object. But with ghost imaging, we can image the object by pointing a CCD camera towards the light ...

Single Atom and Two Atom Ramsey Interferometry with Quantized Fields

Implications of field quantization on Ramsey interferometry are discussed and general conditions for the occurrence of interference are obtained. Interferences do not occur if the fields in two Ramsey zones have precise number of photons. However in this case it is shown how an analog of Hanbury-Brown Twiss photon-photon correlation interferometry can be used to discern a variety of interferenc...

A More General Version of the Costa Theorem

In accordance with the Costa theorem, the interference which is independent of the channel input and known non-causally at the transmitter, does not affect the capacity of the Gaussian channel. In some applications, the known interference depends on the input and hence has some information. In this paper, we study the channel with input dependent interference and prove a capacity theorem that n...
